Louisville Legion Lounge...Moving Forward Into The New "Roaring '20s"!

The 1920s were a decade celebrating the passage of the18th Amendment and the end of "The Big One" World War I. It was a decade of optimism, growth, new art, sports and culture. Here in Louisville, we are celebrating the same things and hopeful that the New Roaring '20s are just as fun and hopeful by packing all kinds of fun into February.

But none of that can happen without a lot of people working behind the scenes to make sure that you, as a Lounge patron, can have that experience. Our staff has been working very hard to make sure that, when you come into the Legion Lounge, you can forget all your troubles for a while and enjoy yourself in our cozy little home-away-from home.

With the addition of a new 55-inch television so generously donated to us by V.F.W Post 10727 Bernard O'Connor Post through our Post Adjutant Emily Hansen, our screening of the "Big Game" during our "Souper Bowl Watch Party" on Feb. 2 is going to make our party a great one! Max and Ann and Emily are working hard to make sure that the "Souper Bowl" party has excellent food and munchies for your enjoyment as you cheer for your favorite team.

February 15 is the Legion Lounge's first Karaoke Night. We'll open the Lounge at 3:00 PM and open the Taco Bar at 5:00. Karaoke starts at 7:00, so brush up on your favorite songs to sing because we have one of the best area DJs in the house. April Ransom will bring her very extensive playlist and have all your lyrics up on the 55-inch tv!

February 16, the Legion Lounge kicks of NASCAR season the right way with a potluck party, specialty drinks and free snacks. Why not enjoy a Busch Light, NASCAR and all your buddies in "Louisville's Living Room"?

All through February, you'll see raffles and fundraisers. At this time, these little mini-fundraisers are going to help pay for improvements in the Legion Lounge to make your experience more enjoyable.

We are all so excited to move forward into March, as our St. Patrick's Party on Saturday, March 21 will be a fun and exciting one for sure! We are also looking for horseshoe league players, as the VFW Post 10727 in Bellevue has issued us a challenge. Legion Lounge staff are also looking to put together a Tuesday nights a "Namast'ay and Un-Wine-d" Yoga class. For a nominal fee, participants will get a 60-minute, beginner's level Yoga class. The Legion Lounge will remain open exclusively to yoga class members tentatively until 9:30 pm so they can stay after class for a glass of wine and relax and unwind. The class will be led by Ann Clark, RN, who is also the Legion's social media coordinator and part-time/fill-in bartender. Ann received her certification as a yoga teacher in May 2019 and is trained in Kundalini and Vinyasa yoga.
